Welcome to the Grade 1 page! All our important letters will be posted here for your information, as well as any extra notes we want to share with you, so check back regularly.
We look forward to working together!

Magazines: Please send old magazines to school. Remember to censor them and tear out inappropriate pages.
Reading: Please note that the Grade One teachers are in the process of assessing your child’s reading ability. It may seem that your child has been given a book that is too hard or too easy. We assess this daily and will ensure that your child is reading the correct level once we have placed them into groups.

SCHOOL TIMES:
• School starts at 7:20 sharp.
• Everything must be clearly marked.
• Earrings small studs or sleepers only.
• Jewelry ~ allowed small religious symbols and these need to be tucked away.
• Each child should have a hat. If your child does not have a hat they are not allowed to play outside. Please could you put sun cream on your child before school on hot days.
• Blazers are compulsory. They are to be worn to school and out of the school grounds. This includes shopping centres.
RESPONSIBILITY:
• At this stage your child should be able to dress themselves and tie their own shoe laces. If they do not know this yet, please encourage them to do so.
• Children should also know their personal details.
ALLERGIES, ILLNESS AND MEDICINE:
• We won’t administer any medication unless we have a letter from home with clear instructions.
• If your child has any severe allergies, please send a photo with their name and type of allergy so that we can put it in the sick room incase of any reactions.
• If your child has anything infectious, please do not send them to school, i.e.: pink eye, ring worm.
• If your child is genuinely sick in the morning or the night before, please do not send them to school. This is unfair to them, their peers and the teachers. There are only two beds in the sick room and this should be used for children who suddenly feel ill during school.
PARENTS WALKING THEIR CHILDREN TO CLASS:
These early stages are fine to walk your child to class, however, they need to learn how to be more independent, and by the end of the term, parents can hang around the playground, but when the school bell rings, parents should say goodbye and leave the school.
