NEWSLETTERS:
Please check ‘Lots to Learn’ flip files every Tuesday for your newsletter. Please read the newsletter, sign the reply slip and place it in the front of the flip file.
HOMEWORK:
Homework is written on Monday for the whole week.
Children must write out the spelling words and dictation sentences every day. This must be done in the way it has been explained to the children.
Write any notes to me at the back of their homework book and remind your child to show me the note. More confidential information must be written on note paper and placed in an envelope.
Please sign the homework when it has been completed. This applies to the reading card as well.
Please listen to your child read every day even if they go to Aftercare.
Please ensure that there is homework stationery at home or in his / her bag for Aftercare.
All readers to be covered in plastic.
Any lost or damaged reader or library book will be replaced at a cost of R100.
LABELLING:
Please make an effort to label your child’s possessions. The children are young
and things do fall on the floor and get ‘lost’. When there is no name, it is impossible to return it to its owner. This applies to uniforms as well.
EXTRA-MURALS:
Please encourage your child to participate in at least one physical extra mural
per term. It is important for children to be active out doors.
EXTRA-
These are not remedial lessons, they are group lessons. If I feel your child will benefit from these lessons, a letter will be sent home. The school also has a speech therapist, remedial teacher and psychologist.
ABSENTEEISM:
Please always send a note if your child is unable to do Phys Ed or swim.
Please also send a letter of excuse if your child is absent from school and phone the school to inform them. The number is 011-783-7575.
EARLY BEDTIME:
It is important for your child to get a good nights rest. They should be in bed by no later than 20:00 for optimum learning to take place at school.
MONIES:
Monies are to be sent in an envelope stating your child’s name, what the money is for and how much has been sent.
BIRTHDAYS:
If possible please send cupcakes. They are easier to handle than cake. If not all children are being invited to your child’s party, please be sensitive with the handing out of the invitations.
LUNCH:
Nutritious lunches only please.
PUNCTUALITY:
Please make a concerted effort to be punctual and get your child to school on time. School starts at 07:20. Late coming is extremely disruptive for both your child and the rest of the class.
WATER:
Please ensure that your child has a water bottle filled with water every day. The bottle must be a ‘snap down’ type, like an Energade bottle.
UNIFORMS AND HAIR:
Please ensure that your child comes to school wearing a clean and correctly labelled uniform. The girls’ hair must be tied up with a yellow or brown hair band if it touches the collar.
Earrings: only studs or sleepers. Shoes must be polished and teeth must be brushed. Please keep an eye out for lice or any other easily contagious hair or skin infections and keep us informed.
TOYS:
No toys are to be brought to school please.
PROBLEMS:
Please go through the channels of complaint. Approach Mrs Gosher first, if things aren’t sorted out, then go to Mrs Cory and only then to Mrs Buschberger. Please phone the school office to make an appointment.
DISCIPLINE:
Discipline starts in the home. Your children are at an age where they need to be aware of the ‘action – reaction’ scenario. The children must take responsibility for their actions and if punished, must carry out their punishment and learn from it.

Thank you for your co-operation. I hope these tips are helpful.
Kind regards
