Pre-Primary

Montrose Pre-Primary School is intended to serve as a feeder school for Montrose Primary School. It should however be noted that acceptance and enrolment at Montrose Pre-Primary does in no way guarantee admission to Montrose Primary School. Admission requirements will have to be met to ensure enrolment at Montrose Primary School.
We offer 4 Grade R classes that cater for learners entering into Grade 1 the following year and 2 Pre-Grade R entering into grade R the following year.
Our fully qualified teachers feel that it is a privilege to share the learning experiences of small children. The classroom will be a home away from home. Each day is planned so that there are numerous opportunities for individual attention and for participation in group activities. The learning experiences are presented through thematic teaching throughout the year and we value and encourage parental support.
Learners are challenged to become responsible, independent, creative and innovative learners. The learners make use of the Montrose Primary School facilities such as the media centre, sports facilities and computer room.
25 learners are admitted to 3 Grade R classes and one has 16 learners. The Pre-Grade R classes have 25 learners in each. School terms coincide with the GDE State School terms.
School hours are from 7:45am to 12:45pm for the Grade R’s and 7:45 to 12:30pm for the Pre-Grade R. Learners may be dropped off from 7:10am.
